چکیده
The impact of heavy metal contamination caused by human activities on mangroves, rivers, estuaries, and coastal wetlands has gained attention recently. In this study, the presence metals in mangrove Sepang Besar River's surface sediments was examined. As, Mo, Pb, Cr, Co, Cd, Ni, Hg concentrations sand were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Across all sampling sites, Cr highest lowest. concentration As found higher than shale's geochemical background value. range EFs for Pb are 4.38 to 12.9, 1.71 3.67, 0.94 2.68, respectively. eight other environmental components compared correlation coefficient. ecological hazards posed (As, Hg) assessed comprehensive enrichment factor (EF) geo-accumulation index (Igeo). Enrichment index, particular, revealed that Arsenic is most prevalent pollutant River sediments, with some stations requiring specific due high pollution levels.

Background & Aims of the Study: The current study was designed to determine the quality of sediments in Karun in Ahvaz, Iran, according to aquatic pollution indices. Materials and Methods: The sediment samples were obtained from six river stations in summer and winter. The sediment samples were air-dried, sifted, homogenized, and stored in plastic bags, and the concentrations of metals were...
متن کاملForensic investigation of aliphatic hydrocarbons in the sediments from selected mangrove ecosystems in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Peninsular Malaysia has gone through fast development during recent decades resulting in the release of large amounts of petroleum and its products into the environment. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are one of the major components of petroleum. Surface sediment samples were collected from five rivers along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and analyzed for aliphatic hydrocarbons. The total concen...
متن کاملHealth and Ecological Risk Assessment of Heavy Metal Pollution in Esfarayen Surface Soils
Introduction: Due to the continued urbanization and industrialization in most parts of the world, metals are constantly being introduced into the soil environment and posing a major threat to human health. The purpose of this study was to investigate the contamination of Esfarayen surface soils with heavy metals and its hazards to human health. Methods: Surface soil samples were collected from ...
متن کاملThe current status of heavy metal in lake sediments from China: Pollution and ecological risk assessment
Heavy metal contamination in lake sediments is a serious problem, particularly in developing countries such as China. To evaluate heavy metal pollution and risk of contamination in lake sediments on a national scale in China, we collated available data in the literature of the last 10 years on lake sediments polluted with heavy metals from 24 provinces in China. Based on these data, we used sed...
